We opened her up. The stitches in the crop held just fine so it was nothing we did, that we could tell anyway. Nothing she ate was ever processed so we were right about it just ceasing to function. Poor girl. We took her out to Suede's pen and they gathered round and studied her. Hopefully, he understands somehow.

I have to make a decision about giving him Hope and Gracie. He only has Dusty and Meg. They are aging, too. Meg is almost 5, same age as Suede. Dusty is same age as Smoky was, 4 yrs old. Do I give him the two big Buff girls? He's not an aggressive breeder so maybe he'd be okay with just two hens, but four big girls would keep that coop warm with all that fluff and body heat during the winter. What do you guys think?

I think you should give him Hope and Gracie. It is gonna be getting cold and the additional body heat will be good for them.

I am so sorry Cyn, there was nothing else that could be done. She is with Thor and Skye and Velvet and now looking out for Isis and Maya. But I think Suede should Get Miranda and Caroline back, the brahma girls. They have lived with him previously and are older girls plus with Suede not being the gigalo that Isaac is, you might be able to get another girl like your beloved Glenda.

I mentioned the Brahmas to Tom. He says, but they're getting up in years. Well, they're the same age as Suede, of course, grew up in the brooder with him. He's much larger now than he was at that younger age. Miranda would handle him very well, not sure about Caroline, who is smaller. If I put in Hope and Gracie, if he managed to mate them, they'd be Orps, albeit, of mixed color. Decisions, decisions.

Um....everyone needs Hope and Grace- two things that keep us all going, and the Old Man certainly deserves them.

Aw heck, give him all FOUR girls, let him live it up in his elder years!
