Testing....... Highlighted cetawin's avatar, clicked Ctrl C (copy). Went to my editor and clicked Ctrl V (to paste it). Then, I enlarged it....

OHHHHHHH, look! If you click on it, it takes you to LadyHawk's profile! hahahaha
Hmmm, I wonder if I can break the link....

Thanks for enlarging those avatars, Ladies. My eyesight has gone to the proverbial heck in a hand basket. I think I need a larger monitor.

Just a quick question for those in the know.......Where, online, can I find small gauge sutures? I tried my local feed store, but they apparently don't stock them. After going through the recent drama with Cleo, I'm thinking that's something I'd like to have in the chicken first aid kit......................

I think you can r/c on the avatar, pick save as, go to your computer pictures, and there it be, without the link.

Amy...here is a link for you...They carry:

UNIFY® Sutures
Features
Specifications
Sutures Overview
User Testimonials
Sutures:
Non-Absorbable
Silk
• Nylon
Polypropylene
Absorbable
PGA
RPGA
PDO

These are Nylon non-absorable ones which would be need to be removed later....good for external stuff, they have small kits (Sutures 14.50 I believe) needle size determines suture gauge, packaged for a three year shelf life but plenty to keep you stocked up. but they also have silk etc and absorable with all the specification info linked in red in center of page. I am pretty sure the last time I ordered the needles came with the kit...double check that with a phone call.

For the birds I went with the poly sutures in extra small....and the nylon for general purposes but read the descriptions for yourself. The silk causes more inflammation than either the poly or the nylon.

I ordered my sutures for the Diva Do from ValleyVet....

I have and am building up her emergency first aid kit as well...right now just the basics because her vet lurves her and is pretty snappy getiing here but just in case I needed to close a wound until he arrived I ordered sutures for her as well. Ya just never know. They also carry a small animal kt but never tried it.

If you go to the doctor, just ask him for some. Expired ones are usually fine. They just throw them away.

Kathy, I would not be worried about the expiration thing just the gauge...a chicken's skin is so much thinner than most human skin do you think it would make it more probable for tearing? I dunno I just buy the smallest I can find. LOL
