One of Shadow's eggs under Penny and one under Aimee are pipped. Chicks are cheeping big time. Today is Day 20. Molly is sitting tight on one each of hers, Shadow's, Maretta's, Nugget's and Carly's.

The bator eggs are on Day 13. I removed one each of Penny's and Carly's since they appeared clear last night. All that are left are one of Aimee's, some of Shadow's, one of Maretta's (sired by Ike) and one of Ellie's, plus one of Shadow's that is 3 days behind. Yeah, I know. Not sure what will happen with that one, but I had one each of Hope's and Nugget's with that one and neither developed so I removed them, leaving just the lone banty Cochin egg. LH will have plenty of Coch'anvers for her bantam horde.

oh Lordy...look at some of the ridiculous laws still on the books

• In Clawson, Michigan, a law specifically makes it legal for a farmer to sleep with his pigs, cows, horses, goats, and chickens. But the animals may not be in the house after sunup or during the day.
• Florida has a law prohibiting the transporting of livestock on school buses.
• If you live in Franklin, Kentucky, you can't legally trade horses after dark. In Alabama, no mules can be traded after supper when the sun has already gone below the horizon. And in Idaho, you can't buy or sell chickens after sundown without the sheriff's permission.
• In 1930, the City Council of Ontario passed an ordinance forbidding roosters to crow within the city limits. In Kenilworth, Illinois, a rooster must step back 300 feet from any residence if he wishes to crow. Hens that wish to cackle must step 130 feet back from any residence. This is a more humane than the law in Lakeland, Florida, where all roosters must be kept in a box or a pen where they can't raise their head high enough to crow.
• If you live in California, you cannot keep your chickens, turkeys, goats, cows, and other farm animals in an apartment. In Cumberland, Maryland, you cannot keep your chickens with you in your hotel room.
• In Kingsville, Texas, there is a law against two pigs having sex on the city's airport property.
• It is illegal for hens to lay eggs before 8 am and after 4 pm in Norfolk, Virginia.
• Ducks quacking after 10 pm in Essex Falls, New Jersey are breaking the law.
• In Quitman, Georgia, it is against the law for a chicken to cross any road within the city limits. In McDonald, Ohio, farmers cannot march a goose down a city street. And fowl, particularly roosters, are prohibited from going into bakeries in Massachusetts.
• In Kansas, it is illegal for chicken thieves to work during daylight hours.
• In Vermont, you can be fined if your pig runs in a public park without the permission of a selectman.
• In Minnesota, it is illegal to cross state lines, regardless if you are walking or driving, with a duck on your head. And, if you're crossing into Wisconsin, the law also applies to chickens.
• You cannot march your goose down McDonald, Ohio's, main street.

Oh, Miranda has taken a turn for the worse. She is very weak, color is very dark. Last night, she had to be encouraged to come out from under the coop. This morning, she didn't come out and couldn't stand for long, wouldn't eat Knockout. She is back in the hospital cage. Tom brought up giving her penicillin, but he knows it won't do any good. It may have pushed back some fluid and infection, but she may not be laying internally. It may just be ovarian carcinoma, like Reba. PenG ain't fixing that.

Poor beautiful Miranda. I hope she passes quickly and peacefully. I do not want that sweet beauty to suffer.

Aimee just hatched one of her very own babies. Penny wanted to steal it before it was even out of the egg so we put up a temporary divider between the nests, LOL.

Speaking of laws, my county, one town, New Port Ritchey, is voting on the "Backyard chicken thing" It's funny, St. Petersburg already passed it approved last year. I gotta look up some more information on what's going on.

AND.........I just hatched 8 out of 8 Crele Polish!!!!!! Yeah!!!!!!! They are so cute, I'll have to charge up the camera. I just put another batch or 8 in from someone else, so we'll see!

LH, those laws are too crazy. While this one is not livestock related I have heard that in Michigan it is against the law for a woman to get her hair cut without her husbands permission.

Sem, I hope the law passes.

Laura, the hair cutting thing tis true....

Lancelot was quite distraught when I told him he could never go to Mass because he could not enter a bakery in that State. He refuses to visit Kenilworth, Illinois too because he likes to crow on the front porch so that 100' feet thing is just too much. Junebug was upset she like to come in the house and cackle...step back 130' feet no way .
