Nickle and Dime!

Kathy, I have a couple of those that are in the first photo. Mine are used as pin cushions though. Granny [Opa's mom] made them for a bunch of us Michigan peeps and chickenstock.

Kathy those are adorable. I had thought of making something similar but have not worked out the pattern yet....the elongated ones to keep drafts from entering under doors. I have seen them as dachshunds and other puppies and kittens but I was thinking a hen and chicks pattern. I have a craft fair coming up soon...I could make some of those for the door prizes.

Kathy, I love them!

Serrin, he's still hangin in there.

Last night I had to shuffle my birds around because I leave early for work. So happened that my Tolbunt roo spent the night with the flock of big girls. He thought he died and went to heaven. I had to let the girls out this morning, and leave him in the pen because of the other roo, and you should have heard him cry! Well, it sounds like a cry. Poor baby!

Eight broodies in the broody buster pen.

Ooooooh. What is this "broody buster pen" you speak of? Is it what it sounds like....a magical device that stops a broody hen's broody-mood? That would be wonderful! We're on day 34 now. I think, maybe, she's lost count of the days. She's fine if I roust her out of the nest box for a drink and some food, but if I leave the pop door closed too long, the other two girls can't get in to lay either. Argh!

I have a pen and run that is exclusively used for broody girls. It has no bedding, no nests, and nothing but a roost inside. The run is, well, it is just an outside pen. Daytime the pop door to the inside is closed (feed and water are outside), and they stay outside. It takes 3-5 days and they then decide they are no longer broody. I often throw a rooster in with them, too.

Kathy I love the rick rack one. She is sooo sweet. Who can I get to give me a price on one and make it for me.
