Had deep dental cleaning yesterday, unexpectedly was not a regular one so cost almost $300 rather than a $10 office visit. Would have been about $800 without my insurance so thankful for that. I need a crown on one tooth, too, but overall, my teeth are in great shape for not having been to a dentist for a cleaning in about 12 years. He was impressed with my dental hygiene-said they looked like I'd had a cleaning within the last year. The root planing/scaling was just something that should have been done a long time ago, I guess. Overdue but we had no insurance after Tom left Scientific Atlanta until a year ago. Next, I desperately need an eye exam and new glasses. Lots of deferred body maintenance I have to get done and a mystery where all the $$ will come from. Sigh.
Slept 12 hours last night woke with migraine so on meds right now. Haven't had one of those headaches in months. Didn't even have meds when I went to the dentist if you don't count the topical gel anesthetic he put on my teeth. I really want to be back to my old self again.
Isaac's crow sounds weird. No idea what's up with him other than chasing his son around constantly. He won't share the hens willingly at all. Suede is still crowing, but so weak. Meg insists on grooming him, INSISTS on picking at his comb and wattles, which are dry and flaky in his current condition, and he is not pleased with her not-so-gentle attentions so we had to remove him from the pen within a few minutes today. He can't spend the night with them because he cannot jump on the 21" roost shelf. We could put him up there, but if he tried to jump down, it could be disastrous for him so he spends the chilly nights in the broody pen with a reptile heat bulb over him. Still hanging on and trying to be The Man.
Tim, our 37th anniversary is on December 5th. I am still happy to have married this man.
Laura, you have my sympathy. I cannot imagine not having my chickens anymore.
