Sears and Kmart closings

Just had to exchange a "new" weed eater at Sears. Lasted five weeks.

The Sears I bought it would NOT exchange it. Claimed because it was
over my 30 day return, it would have to be sent off and repaired. Take
a month or so.

Second Sears store DID exchange it. Refunded my credit card the original
amount that I should see in a few days. Then SOLD me the new weed eater
on the same credit card.

Couldn't do an even swap.

I'm not a Wal-mart fan, but Sears and K-Mart apparently aren't into customer
relations.

***Before you guys get to asking questions, NO the weed eater is not for me.
It's for my wife. Weed eating is hard work. A little hard work is good for her.

What brand weed eater ?

I used a 20% off coupon on one item from OSH, a Sears store under a different name.

I bought a can of primer at $20, $16 after the discount and 2 hose repair parts at $2 each.

I realized I had grabbed the wrong sized hose repair parts, someone had stocked the 1/2" bins with 5/8" kits months ago and I have to pick through the bin to find the right ones. I was distracted that day and was not thinking.

I went to return the 2 $2 kits, was give $3.60 back. Hmmmm Why am I being shorted .40 cents?

Seems they want to take their discount back on anything you might exchange/return from that purchase. I made a big fuss, not cause the .40 cents was an issue, but the idea that they would steal back from their own offer was just plain wrong.

The manager had to come to the front to explain why they were right and that all companies do that.....hmmm no

I did get the .40 cents back, and unless it is a super good deal I will not be returning for any regular priced merchandise.

Oh, and if you use one of their coupons, buy only the coupon item on that transaction

I am trying to figure out the math story here about being shorted of forty cents. If they give you a forty cents discount, you should not have the forty cents discount refunded...that is THEIR money they give out discounts.

Could you please enlighten me? I suck at math stories!

Yeah.. Ours are closing around here too. As sad as I am that people will be out of work, the Kmart is a hole. I generally try my best to avoid Walmart, or Kmart, or anything like that. I do go into Lowes quite a bit.... But as a rule, I try to shop locally and actually end up spending less on my grocery dollar because I am not distracted by the crud I didn't need in the first place.

This wasn't even a math question, just reading! OR, are you worried about connects vs connections? Sorry, the construction background comes out sometimes ~
