I live on the coast of Maine and was wondering if I could feed seaweed to my birdies...? Anyone tried this?

Is it not loaded with salt? Too much salt may harm your birds. [IMG] Something for the bird diet experts.... Anyone?

I'm certainly no expert, but I wouldn't do it, either - too much salt. I'd save the seaweed for steaming the lobsters and clams. *jealous*

Seaweed has been used as a garden fertilizer by coastal communities for centuries without causing salt issues .

I'd think that a good rinsing with clean water and you'd a very nutritious snack for your flock.
