Sebastopol geese - selecting breeding stock, color genetics, and color improvement

Pics
Amy it looks like the lavender female I sold this spring. She was lav all over, but would fade quick in the sun and of course darken up again when she molted. She would go from lav all over to lav head and faded silver toned body to almost white body with medium head

This is a baby though- half of her just came in white like that. I thought at first she might be cream or something... the lav parts are so light its really hard to see in most of the pics.

GF looks like a lavender to me as well. The whole neck is lavender and lavender do have white in their feathers on the underside. It might be a dilute lavender just like in greys and blues they come in different hues.

Interesting....I will have to check with the girl that got the other lav baby to see how hers came out. Both of my lavs are from mixed color flocks though, so it wouldn't surprise me if one or both carried pattern.

It doesn't look like a saddleback but maybe thats just the pics...sort of over exposed.
It looks like a light body and darker head and neck and I don't see a saddle.
You will see this varying of color in buffs, lilacs and lavs.

She sent pics of the other lav baby- it looks just like my gander (their dad) , solid light lav,.
Everybody is so dirty now. This has been an awful weather year and even my whites look like they have pink saddles. Yuck.

Nice!
I will have to do the evening pics like that so they aren't so blindingly bright. If mine is saddleback she has the crazy pattern like my Bumble does- all the way down his neck and a blob on the chest. You have to see her from the front.

Any thing that is not lavender is pure white if that helps.
Hi Jenifer!!! How have you been? Long time since we last talked on the other forum. Beautiful lavender saddleback and boy can you tell she is a lavender saddleback. Smooth breasted I see. She has a pretty pattern and not too far down on the neck.
