I was looking at one of my 10 month old Sebright cockerel, and noticed he’s growing Spurs. I’m positive Sebrights are supposed to be spur-less. Will it be a bad idea to breed him for show quality chicks?

Definitely compare him to some show sebrights to make sure he matches the standard otherwise, too.

here he is

They have spurs in all the sanctioned shows in the U.S. (relooked at my videos, just to make sure) Also, if you’re serious about showing Sebrights, I have Paul Holm’s contact up in the Napa area. He develops champions - and it’s the way to go… show quality birds will also have a much different temperament vs hatchery/pet quality. The cost, and maybe the effort, will be the same whether one raises pets or champions.
