Who wants broodies? I came home yesterday to 4 new broodies, so now have 6. I decided to try to break the first two bu tossing them in the Juvie Pen. They are hogging the favorite nesting spots and eggs keep getting broken in the fightingI think it will work on one but the other found a spot and is hissing and spitting if anyone comes near. I guess I'll giver her a basket and some eggs. Maybe she can raise hatch the tutors for me.
I have a lavender Am who is similar to your Dolly. She doesn't follow me around all day but she does insist on checking out the horse feed buckets. She taught Lil Lurkey to check them out too. I started soaking their food one evening and made the mistake of going to refil the chicken waters. When I came back, there is Curious and Lil perched on the side of the wagon happily helping themselves to the horse food. I put a towel on top of the wagon now if they are out freeranging.
Quote: One of these days I'll get around to getting some, but for now it's hot glue. We've been working on this thing for months now and there's only one wire that hasn't detached yet!![]()

You need Muscovy ducks!!!
No honking!! They keep their distance just not as socaible as the chickens and dabble in the water constantly!!
Hello! Can I join the hatchathon? I am setting my eggs from Chookschicks Saturday night.![]()
Quote: Contrastphoto, I Googled gold laced Brahma and that picture came up. I tried to attribute where it came from (Dan Powell's birds is what came up as ID for the photo) but it didn't have any other names associated with it. No one is using the picture to sell eggs as far as I know. I apologize if using the pictures offended you.
Quote: I have to keep my horses and chickens separated if the horses are in their pens or stalls. My two youngest horses will kill a chicken if it gets within "hoof shot" of them. If I am going to let the birds free range I have to let the horses out first and then the birds. Once the horses are in turnout, they pretty much ignore the birds but if they do chase them the birds can get away by ducking under the fence. My birds won't eat the carrots but they love apples. They get their own apples mixed into their treats every day. I don't think it would go over well if the birds tried to steal apples out of the feeders for the horses.![]()
