**~~>>Second Annual Cinco de Mayo Turkey Hatchathon<<~~**all poultry welcome!

This is my first time hatching turkey eggs and I was told that they are difficult to candle until day 14. I have them in with some other eggs for a staggered hatch and today was the day to move the chicken eggs to the hatcher for lockdown, so I figured I would candle anyway... I set 16 eggs for this hatchalong. I have what looks to be 2 bloodrings, 5 that are definitely developing, and 9 that I just can't tell yet! I am SO excited about seeing some development! I don't see anything yet in my pure Royal Palms, but those eggs are bigger than the others I have in there...

Steampunk rooster anyone?

i would love to have him!

Wait. You have her inside with you where you can watch her 24/7? Now why have I never thought of that? Brilliant. Perfectly brilliant.

Yes, Punkin went broody in the dog bed under the TV table, less than a month after she started to lay. She was laying her eggs in the dog bed... Beth is laying HER eggs in the clean linen bin, but goes outside after (or sometimes before, but then she gets agitated and wants back inside to lay). Punkin was going outside during the day, too... Until she just settled into the dog bed full-time. On nothing. (I gathered the eggs.). So I gave Punkin 3 flock eggs.

I think a second egg has zipped beneath her.

That kind of thing depends on the candler you are using!

use a Brinsea High intensity ova view and it is amazing what you can see inside the eggs!

Do you think maybe one of my eggs was "starting" to go bad???

I'm glad I decided to investigate the slight smell that was coming out of the cabinet. Do you think a spray of Oxine and a little candlewax will fix it back up???

I'm not kidding, the smell was only slight...............................and I have a very good sense of smell.

I checked the egg on each side of this one, they were both waving at me.

Holy moly, gross. haha. The "scientist" in me really wants to see pictures of what was inside. I find all of this stuff so fascinating, even the yucky bits.

I'm having a difficult time seeing into my turkey eggs too. My golden palm eggs are much larger and darker than my blues and blacks, so those are the ones I can't tell a thing about. Ironically those are the ones that I have the fewest of and that I want the most. Go figure. I'm getting fed up with not being able to tell what's going on in there so tonight I plan on rigging up a candle box and trying a brighter light.

What's your address? I'll mail it to you, LOL Right now it's sitting on the porch OUTSIDE, I wanted to show it to DH before it hits the garbage can. Unless of course you wanted it
