LOL

I just caught one of my Kittens in my stew pot

So lets try this one for fun

Hey Diddle diddle
the cat in the kettle
the Chickens all looking gloom

To see the cat play
they know soon will come a day
the Kettle will be their Doom.

Good one.

OK, good thing I went & checked everything tonight since JJ let me sleep & did all the birds chores himself today. Layers' water buckets all bone dry, 8 empty waterers & 6 empty feed bowls on the caged birds & the ducklings that were supposed to go outside this morning to the coop with the juvenile chickens were still in the brooder in the basement dumping all the water (thus 4 of the 8 empty waterers & 3 of the empty feed bowls). They have just gotten too big to stay with the chicks in the brooder. They are already bigger than some of the chicks out in the coop. Tomorrow's project, weather permitting, is a small grow-out pen for the ducklings with a tiny pool & their own duck box.

Holy canoli batman she's 2 sheets over the cuckoo nest.
Quick someone get her a straight jacket

I am officially OUT of the SJ business. Time for someone else.

gardeningmama I live in Stockton, UT but that picture was taken in the mountains around Big Cottonwood Canyon. Still in Utah but much higher elevation than where my house is.
ETA - sorry I thought you were commenting on the "snow" picture I posted earlier. Yes we did get snow last night at our house. I am pretty sure SCG got some up in Maine over the weekend too. Yeah, it is not quite spring here yet.

Only a little, just enough to screw up my outdoor planting plans.

lol.. national weather service says it's only 86 right now (I believe I'm just north of you)..
I think it was hotter a few hours ago.. felt like it was anyway

We might see 86 for 3 or 4 days in July.

for those of you who want snow... you are welcome to come to myplace. We were gifted with 19.5 inches yesterday through last night with another mother storm coming through the day after tomorrow....

I was hoping to hear if our offer for our AZ land was accepted today because I am totally ready for winter to be over.

I set 18 chicken eggs last night. I was supposed to have another shipment come this week but I asked them to postpone it due to the storms. I set the ones that arrived early with a few from my mutt layers to make it an even 18. We have mutts all around, some will be super blue layers, and there are also some crested legbar in there too I think. I am a little sad I didn't get to fill up the incubator with them all at once, but oh well.... I never was able to find turkey eggs around here. Found some people willing to sell me full grown ones though, along with full grown peacocks. I wish I had more space. with the snow, I don't expect to get out building the new pens any time soon.

Question about the broody pics.... Can I post one of a broody that isn't mine? She is sitting on my eggs since she lives where roosters are a no-no....

Where are you at??!! Antarctica?

Finished my bee class tonight (yay!), just got home and my backup brooder light is still on, thankfully. Former chicksickles are running around like crazy. BF brought my sick hen indoors and wrote me a summary of what her poop looked and smelled like and a suggested course of action from his research:
"...smelled terrible so i know something came out which i still liked because it tells me somethings getting through..." I swear if I had told him 3 years ago he'd be admiring and studying a chicken poo bouquet he wouldn't have believed me

Hope everyone with friends and family in the Boston area are okay tonight.

I see you!

It's probably just hard for Ron to decide how to summarize things.

So what was the result of your candling?
Yay! No worries!

Sorry to seem whiney, I was just all excited to share my candling news thinking other people were on the edge of their seats for candling too and then I posted it twice and no one said anything, and then it wasn't in the digest either so I was thinking ...maybe it's just some weird glitch and not showing my posts.

I have added you to the digest!

I am working with a breeder in Guinda California-she is improving SG Dorkings and they are amazing. Single comb though. I love Crele chickens-I have Crele Penedesencas growing out--they are 8 weeks old and very cute little crazy things.....

I did not mean that in a bad way towards you at all! I just thought it was another indicator that maybe I was having some tech issues. So feel free to

YOu are here!! ANd we love sharing excitement!! I candled last night--every egg. My temps have beenjumping today too, what's up with THAT. I had to open the top to cool them down.

12 dozen seeds -- in starter pots?? I went right for the cool soil and will save the starter pots for the tomatos etc. WHat did you plant?
caf.gif
I candled every egg as well...9 look great, 3 look iffy, but were put in a day later and had the "blood ring" and somehow a hard boiled egg slipped in! haha.

Okay after a weekend of softball that we didn't get told about until Friday night the grand daughter's team "Thunderbolts" won the tournament is she ever happy

So today I locked down 11 turkey eggs I don't think one is good but you just never know and a bunch of tutors I still haven't fixed up my "brooding bedroom" because I figured out how to remove one of my shelves in my incubator so my eggs can turn while I hatch and I've started a hatching cage so I don't have all kind of baskets to keep my pedigreed birds separated.....that shelf was doubled nutted standing on my head trying to undo it for more than an hour ....so now my incubator holds less eggs...really I set 5 dozen turkey eggs quite a few of them will not be good as I find the first week or so that those hens resume laying Mr Tom has forgotten how to get the deed done properly seems like they mostly just stomp on the poor girls backs but some of them will be good and they all have new turkey owners waiting.

Where is spring? I know I saw some of it but now just wind again warm then cold oh well at least no snow for me (we very seldom have snow on the central coast) and no rain you know it's dry when the foxtails have headed out and are not even 5 inches high.... and it's already that drab brown color no green for us until maybe Thanksgiving time

How do you stop this hatching addiction?
I wish somebody could tell!
The eggs are so pretty, the chicks are so cute,
surely DH couldn't yell.
I'll make him an omelette, with peppers and cheese,
to keep him preoccupied.
He'll never see me run for the 'bator,
with these beautiful eggs set aside.
My plan didn't work, it's the sofa for me,
But in three short weeks,
we'll have company!!!!

Okay, I will give a poem a try.

There once was a chicken named Fran,
She really did hate every man
She balked all the day
and never would stay
so in the end she went in the frying pan

Sorry, it is not very good.
