Professional roost bar
I'm relatively new down the chicken genetics rabbit hole, and I'm adopting out a black sexlink roo to a friend. He asked what to expect in the chicks. I know the parentage of this boy, since he hatched in my backyard, but I'm curious about what his kids would get. Can any of you chicken genetics geniuses help me out?
Meet Noah, 8 month old black sex link (SLW x BPR)
- Dad is Arslan, single comb (SLW)
- Mom is Noelle (BPR)
- Noelle was a great layer of lovely pinkish brown eggs her first two years, but has since slowed to ~2 per week at 3 years old.
My friend's flock is RIR's and a few Buff orpingtons.
Without knowing many specifics about his hens beyond breed, what could he expect to see from Noah's kids?
I'd assume chicks would come out at about 50/50 barred... And I'm assuming Noah's SLW father would be contributing predominantly white feathering to the others, but beyond that I have no clue! Any thoughts are appreciated!
