Second sick hen

Pics
Update... she does not appear to be improving, actually getting worse. She will eat anything she can get. Very thinly shaved steak and eggs go fast. She has very little balance and strength. She fell off the roost 3 times last night. She's staying on the floor tonight (her choice). I'm not seeing much chance of survival, so I don't think we will increase or continue the Doxy.

Additional question: this was on the droppings board this morning. Is this a "shelless egg"?

Obviously you are the one dealing with this and seeing how the hen is acting. But a course of antibiotics usually needs to be given for the duration to judge effectiveness. Also she is likely not getting enough rest while keeping up with appearances to the rest of the flock.
If a hen can't sit on a roost then I wouldn't keep putting them up there. Either leave them on the floor or put them in a separate cage so they can rest.

I'm sorry you're going through this with another hen. Hopefully none of the others get sick.

That's what I call a rubber egg or balloon egg. If you don't have an idea who laid it I would be giving all the ladies a calcium pill every night for a few days.

Thanks for the help! We noticed on the video after the fact that she would fall off the roost and make her way back up. We isolated her around 10 PM last night so she wouldn't go back up. She spent the day outside in the run with the others. She seems to want to keep up with them. Tonight she went in the small box by herself. She seems to be pretty smart...
As for the rubber egg, we don't know exactly who it is. They have had a bowl of crushed oyster shell and a bowl of finely ground oyster shell. Both free choice. Should they get something other than what we are offering them?

Gotcha! LOL! Well it sounds like she had enough of the up and down with the roost.

Mine have oyster shell available all the time but they occasionally don't eat it. I know they go through it quicker in the summer. Right now my girls are starting to lay after their winter break and I've had a few balloon eggs. If I know which one lays it I will make them take some calcium to get everything working properly . I just shove it in like a pill.
I have one that seems to need a lot of calcium and must not be eating the oyster shell. So I started washing, drying and crushing their eggshells and giving them back to them. That one hen loves them and it keeps her going.

Well, they were all out today. Nice sunny day. She did her best to keep up with the rest, but seems to know her limit and headed back to the run when she seemed tired. She would occasionally run for about 15 to 20 feet then stumble. I upped her dose from 25 mg twice a day to about 40 mg twice today. I've not seen any lash material from her for several days. If we don't see any improvement with the 40 mg, would giving her the whole capsule, 100 mg be too much? @azygous I'd be concerned with her liver at some point.
