I succesfully raised 3 beautiful peeps to adulthood. My RIR died very suddenly last November before the cold weather even started. She was fine in the morning and dead by noon. It was bizarre. She showed no signs of disease and was not eggbound. She was running around, scratching, digging, eating and drinking and abruptly collapsed. Now the same thing has happened to my barred rock. She was an energetic healthy bird until yesterday. I was proud that I got my remaining two through the bitterly cold Winter and was looking forward to a great Spring with them! I am heartbroken and overcome with guilt. Has anyone else ever experienced this? Healthy, happy birds dying suddenly?

My only losses were from other animals, a hawk and a raccoon, so I may not be much help but here goes..
Do you think they might of choked on their food? Did they have any water?? Just an idea. Sorry

Not too sure, but one of my silkies that had NO wounds or obvious injuries of any kind when I found her had been killed by a hawk. I only know what killed her because I saw it peck her through the fence before I realized what it was, and then I scared it away. If I were you though, I would send off the BR for necropsy so you know for sure what you are dealing with before your other bird dies, or before you get any new birds. Sorry for your losses!!
