I'm doing a project on Sex-Links and would like to have a visual image of a second or third generation Sex-Link(s). This can be one Sex-Link bred to another bird, or a Sex-Link x Sex-Link. Both Red or Black. Anyone have pictures they're willing to let me use? Thank you.

P.S. I know there are a couple of threads that have pics, but all of those pictures have been deleted.

Well, after the first generation they aren't really considered sex links any more since they aren't sex linked, but I'm sure someone has some pictures for you. I'm sure I have some chicks and adults running around in my flock that came from my sex link hen but I couldn't say for sure which ones, lol.

I get what you mean. But yeah, I understand that they're not "Sex-Links", per say, but that's just what I prefer to call them. Thanks.

No problem, and if I get any chicks hatched from her eggs (I have broodies sitting now) I'll post some pictures for you :)

Thanks! I'd love to have some chicks pictures, too.

I'm in the process of helping my sister hatch a couple dozen RSL eggs fertilized by a Red/BO roo (he looks exactly like a New Hampshire except with white legs). I think her RSL hens are probably NH/White Rock based on my research, I call them "Golden Comets" because they are very golden (or lighter) colored with little white. Basically what I expect is for the chicks to look very much like pure New Hampshires. They should hatch around the first of the month, and I'll try to get chick pics.

Thanks a lot! Are you sure it's New Hampshire x White Rock? White birds usually aren't used in crosses because their white feather gene is dominant. It's be cool to have one with recessive white feathers. I can't wait to see the chicks!

I just realized I do have this picture. Not a White Rock (roo) x Red Sex Link (hen).

This is one that I got in a egg swap here on back yard chickens.
The dad (roo) is a Red Naked Neck
The mon(hen) is a Golden Comet. Not really sure how a Golden Comet is made, I think different recipes for different hatcheries. But they are basically a Rex Sex Link.
Here's my pullet:

The head and neck shot.

Mid-section to tail shot.

The White Rock /RSL pullets looked somewhat like this but the buff/red color was quite a bit fainter, and not quite so much color showing thru. I think though that you could possibly get some with more red in them.

Nope, not sure at all. Just anectdotally, the seller told her they were NH's (or NH mixes), which I assume is true, since they are lighter than Production Reds, some much lighter. Their faces are also more "clean" (not as feathered) so their red skin shows more than I'm used to seeing, which I think is a NH trait. So I'm fairly certain that the sire was a NH, and that's about it.

The White Rock is just one of the possible dames I found used for the brand 'Golden Comet' (where the pics looked very similar)--but yea, the dame could definitely be a White RIR, or a Delaware, etc. I don't know how to tell the difference, since it seems they only contribute a few white feathers.

These birds have much less white than a lot of the RSL's I've seen. They don't have patches of bright white feathers anywhere, it's more subtle than that. Like I said, most look very much like pure NH's, except their tail feathers have white tips instead of black. The one on the right in this pic is what hers look most like:

*This pic and the idea that the Golden Comet includes a NH sire over a White Rock dame came from this excellent link: http://www.backyardpoultrymag.com/what-breed-is-it-understanding-sex-link-chickens/

It is possible that they are out if White Rock. I've been told that there are lines of WR that were developed based on silver. If so then that is where the NH/WR crosses came from on those Golden Comets.
That being said I think the majority are barred based.
