Second Time Hatching — shipped & backyard eggs

have you complained to McMurray? did you click (or not unclick, idk what the default is) "substitutions okay" on your order form? if you didnt allow it, I assume McMurray will refund you. I've had good luck with them when it comes to receiving dying chicks (post office's fault completely but McM refunded it all).

The shipped eggs were from Meyers. They did call the day the eggs were scheduled to ship out and I okayed the assorted eggs. However, during the call, representative i was talking to said they had discontinued the speckled sussex hatching eggs and had forgotten to take it off the website. That tells me it was a decision by Meyer’s to stop selling those hatching eggs, not an issue of not having enough. Which also makes me think this could’ve been handled ahead of time and let people know it was discontinued...or they could’ve just given people their damn speckled sussex hatching eggs lol. Anyways, they did make up the difference with store credit but I’m still kind of cross about it. Then again, it’s probably hectic for them since there is a pandemic going on and a lot of people are wanting chickens now. There seemed to be a lot of one place not knowing what the other is doing

oops the two hatcheries look too similar to my eyes. I'm glad you got a refund but I would be frustrated too

I really, really don’t like still air incubators. In the middle it says 100 f but near the elements it’s reading 104
Measure at top of eggs...IIRC still air may be a bit higher temp than fan assisted.

I’ll check the temps again, but I did try to get as close to the egg as I could. Still not a fan of still air incubators lol
