Second Time Hatching — shipped & backyard eggs

Pics
Emmy is doing its job and I don't have any major complaints. However, I did discover that its' built in thermometer reads out 2 degrees higher than what it actually is. Also, it had a cold spot on the end farthest away from the fan. Both were easily fixed by setting it to 102, lots of calibrated thermometers sitting on top of the eggs, and a blanket around it. Though, I candled quite a bit of eggs ( not all, though ) and....I think the LG fried them. They went in the 28th and I didn't see any development in a lot of them tonight. Is it possible that it's still too early? Or is it a bust?

Am I missing something or did they put the wrong image up???

Yes, it's definitely the wrong image. This is a Speckled Sussex, lol.

I can probably get some hatching eggs for you in a couple of months if you're still looking by then. I have a friend that breeds heritage speckled sussex. The pullet in the above image was a chick I hatched from her. I would be the one shipping them though. She's old and wouldn't be interested in trying, lol.

That’s okay, thanks for the offer. I ended up just adding day old chicks to my April 19th order. I’m going to have my hands full as is lol

Okay, getting back on track: today is day 10 for the eggs in Hatch Batch. 4 were DIS which is an improvement from last run’s 6. Two eggs were infertile ( damn boys are slacking ), but the rest are good as far as the eggs from my chickens are concerned.

Shipped eggs from Meyer’s —
  • 3 partridge cochins are still alive ( 1 was infertile ).
  • The light brown leghorn egg was infertile.
  • Welsummer is alive
  • Olive egger is...iffy. Seemed like there was movement, but not a lot
  • BA is iffy too; leaning more towards DIS
Tomorrow is day 7 for the eggs in Emmy, so I won’t candle those tonight. Not real hopeful about that, I think I was too late to save a lot of them.

Pictures are attached but nothing is in order
