Second try at hatching quails! (This time I'm sharing the whole experience with you!)

Hi everyone! After some months, finally the quails in my zone are starting to lay eggs again, which means it is finally time for me to give it another go at incubating some! I have also upgraded my equipment quite a lot, I now have a better incubator (Borotto Lumia 8, one of the best bators you can buy easily here in Italy) and a humidity control unit, which pours water in the canals as needed. Last time I did this I had a bigger, but cheaper incubator (48 eggs for 100 euros, while now 8 big eggs or 24 small eggs for 230 euros) and it didn't go too well, out of 30 eggs only 3 hatched and one of those had some leg problems which caused him to pass away soon after hatching. This time I also have 2 thermometers which I am using to check if the bator's built-in one is wrong. The 24 eggs will come in a few days, and I plan on sharing every part of the journey with everyone, who knows, maybe someone will find it useful! Wish me luck!

Just as a first update, the two external thermos are showing 38.2°C, while the bator is showing 37.7°C. the bator's built-in one is very precise, while the external ones, I read on the reviews, have a error range of +-0.4°C, so I'd say imI pretty spot on, what do you think?

day 2 update! finished the temperature checks and all seems good. now checking the humidity, the automatic waterer seems to be able to maintain it at 45% humidity constantly, now testing how it does when i follow the instructions and turn the knob up to 60% for the lockdown.

oh, also i landed the deal on the eggs today i'll be getting 32, full incubator!

I am now on a quest to find the perfect room to put the incubator into, my basement is too cold for the water to evaporate, while most of the other rooms are too low in humidity. It's gonna be a hard one.

bingo! Got the humidity to rise up to 60% in the outer ring of the bator, which is what the instructions say it should get to in the lockdown. The eggs will probably be coming in friday or monday.

Aww, the postman tried to deliver the eggs today but I wasn't home to get them, they'll spend another day at the post office and then they'll come in tomorrow :/
