security certificate warning

does it pop up every time you visit BYC? I'm not a mod or anything, but i've never seen a certificate warning for BYC. If it's only popping up some of the time, that's a problem.

I've never seen this, and I see no one else has reported it. You can try the fixes in our troubleshoting article which is linked in my signature line. You could also download a free anti-malware program and run it, like Malwarebytes. I recently did this, and it fixed a problem I had with the Google home page saying it couldn't find a valid source, or something like that. (I use FF.)

Good luck!

I get occasional pop-ups on The Easy Garden sister site telling me I have different problems. I can't read messages or things like that unless I go to their site. I consider these malware and ignore them. I can read messages fine over there. I don't get too many of these pop-ups on this forum, or if I do I do such a good job ignoring them that I don't notice them.

The latest one of this type on TEG is "This is no joke! You are out 100,000 visitor and you just won a prize."

I just consider this a part of being on the internet. Of course I'm just a cynical suspicious old fart that doesn't trust strangers on the internet. Some people are more trusting.

Thanks all for the responses. It only seems to be happening on my tablet, and I have some issues with my tablet running some things on BYC properly anyway so that is why I thought it might just be me. We have McAfee so I hope that is scrubbing what it is supposed to. I am not very techy but I will take a look at your links Judy and see what I find.

I just thought I should report it in case I wasn't the only one.

you are not the only one it pops up every time I go on to byc with my phone

Thanks for the reports!

Usually when this is a site-wide problem we get hundreds of reports, so our thought it might be isolated to specific computers or settings local to your system, ISP, etc.

With that said, we definitely take these things very seriously. That being the case, please provide as much information as possible, including:

  1. What page / url were you on when you had the problem
  2. What was the exact message you saw (screenshots work best)
  3. What browser and version are you on
  4. Any other information that might be helpful.

I can tell you that it occurs on my Android 4.0.4 tablet and the browser is the one that came loaded and it just is called Browser (same version as the tablet I think). Next time it happens I will make note of the page and exact message. It was something to the effect of "there is a problem with this sites security certificate" then it had three choices of what to do, continue, was one, cancel I think and I forget the third.

Not sure if I can figure out how to do a screen shot but will work on it. Thanks.
