Selecting breeds

I have black sex links, production reds, rir, br, bo, slw, lh, aracaunas, & astrolops. They are all laying good and it gets cold here as there isn't much protection here. I like them all. Good luck with your choice. All mine lay large eggs.

Real personality? Barred Rocks. My girls are a hoot. Never fails that if I find some roaming my deck (6 ft off the ground), it's two or three Barred Rocks looking for the treat can. My main flock rooster is a Barred Rock and I'm keeping one of his sons to help with the duties. I have four BR girls laying of different ages and a bunch of chicks that will join the flock later on. Although I have several breeds, pures and a few crossbreeds, eventually as I lose members of the team through natural deaths or predators, etc, they will be replaced with Barred Rocks and Buff Orpingtons. I do have my Blue/Black/Splash breeders that are separate and I plan to keep that going for the forseeable future, but the laying team will eventually just be Buff Orps and Barred Rocks with perhaps a couple of Wyandottes thrown in for good measure-can't go wrong with any of those.

Dont forget to add $1 per breed, and $7 for small order/less than full box

I like the brahmas, Did you look at the BUCKEYES???

Henry suggested dark egg layers, such as a Maran, it just makes for a preatier egg basket.
