Self Blue (Lavender) Silkie Thread

Thank you. Your roo is spectacular. (as you well know) I wish my black roo was split, but he is not. I'm using him for my paints. He has a white feather on one foot. Hatched his first paint baby today! WOOT!

Your black boy is nice! He is a deep black! My paints started laying, and I checked 4 eggs and all 4 were fertile. But, I'm not going to hatch for another few weeks, it's just way too hot here.

I thought about having an auction, but the paint eggs are from new layers. I have 3 paint girls, 3 white showgirls, 3 white silkies and 1 black girl in that pen. The whites are one year old, and they have just stopped being broody so I know they are not their eggs. So, they have to be the paints or the black girls eggs.

I just hatched a "surprise" lavender chick! It is the first baby out from my young lavender showgirl cockerel pictured below. He is with two gorgeous black pullets who I did not think were splits, but either I was wrong about them not being split, or I marked the egg wrong and it was from my other lavender pen! Either way a happy surprise to come home to! I will post some chick pics when everyone is dry! Here is daddy and the one I think was mom (I don't think the other was laying yet)....

Until the lav breeders start giving clues how they hatch lavender chicks I'd stay away from them. I biught a lav hen and roo and 20+ eggs got to day 18 and quit. I sold the roo and bought a super black roo and now I'm waiting for him to figure out how to breed. I'm not the first person to have issues with lavenders. It seems to be a secret that lavenders are extremely difficult to hatch.

I have hatched 1 lavender bird in the last year, and I had a Lavender Rooster over 4 lavender hens. Day 18-19 and they quit! I'm getting frustrated. Now, I have hatched some really nice Partridge and Blue Partridge girls from my Lavender Rooster. So, all in all, I'm really glad I had him. I am thinking about pairing a Partridge Rooster with the lavender girls and see if I can get more Blue Partridge girls.

I have also changed Roosters, and hoping he produces some lavender offspring that will thrive. This is the boy I replaced my Lav Roo with:

Just wanted to stop by and put a picture in of my new boy! I was so excited to find a lavender roo locally.
I have hatched several lavenders here for someone else who breeds them in the orphingtons and silkies also and I got them to hatch about 60-70% under a hen. Incubator I got I think 2 out of 10. I just put mine under a hen now with the lavenders. That is the only thing I know as a trick to help them hatch.

Sorry he looks a little rough he was into several fights with another roo I had. I am going to try to get some better pictures this weekend of him. He is bearded just their isn't much more than a couple tiny feathers left after the fights.
