Self Blue (Lavender) Silkie Thread

IF you breed lavender to blue you won't get any lavender the first crossing. All the off spring will carry one lavender gene and even though some may LOOK lavender they won't be pure. THEN you cross those with ONE gene back to a lavender again and THEN you get 50% lavender and MAYBE blue. I have never cross with blue because of the confusion so I can't say if you will get good color blues. Here lies the BIG PROBLEM ...CAN YOU TELL WHAT IS THE 50% lavender? Usually NOT. Blue falls too close to the lavender chicks in color. Black crosses are the best I have seen...the black chicks come out a beautiful rich deep black and can be used as black or crossing again to lavenders. This is where the BLACK split to lavender comes in. My males did show silver in hackles often but the pullets were great. I even used those black splits back on lavender getting 50% lavender and more good blacks. The silver in hackles for that purpose wasn't holding me back. They are show guality for color but sure good breeding birds for the lavender breeding pens

Your question was 50% blue and 50% spilt ...all would be splits.

You gave much better detail than I did.

This is the ONLY thing I might have down pretty good. So give me one point for that Suze and you can certainly explain the rest. LOL I still have so much to learn. I might be some where near the top of the "knowing" class when it comes to paints...since none of us GET IT YET.
