Self Blue (Lavender) Silkie Thread

He is really a very nice boy! His comb looks fine to me. It's certainly not red. May a tad pale but nothing to worry about. He could use more foot feathering but his type and wings are so nice! I notice he has quite a few fret marks. My guy does also. I'm wondering if all the boys have them...

What is a fret mark PeepBlessed?

The fret lines are only on the boys (Ameraucanas).

Here are close up pictures of my boys feet (sorry so dirty) some of those feathers are still opening up. I think they look OK don't you think PeepBlessed or no? Should there be more at 5 months? I guess I am just nit picking all parts of this guy. I am just trying to look at him critically and honestly and not "Mommy's pretty boy".

I included this one where he is walking because it shows his foot off the ground.

Here is my other Lavender. (that is poopoo stain on the right wing not some odd color coming in) He/she is starting to get some better feathering. Muffs and beard are coming in and finally some crest, though I doubt it will ever be large. Sorry they aren't more clear. I think this chick is hyper and this little character is smart as a whip. He/she knows I am the food, water, and treat Momma and will get right under me and cock this head and look at me and watch whatever I am doing. Always curious and always gets out of the grow out pen - such a little pistol! Ha! Ha!

I am loving your cockerel! He is quite stunning! Great foot feathering! How old is your chick?

PeepBlessed one more question. Do you think he is good enough to show? I think I would like to try and show he and my little paint girl. I've never done it (I used to show my Arabians when I was younger) but nothing to do with the chickens.

The chick is about 3 1/2 months old I believe - maybe a tad bit younger. I know this baby is just pet quality, but it sure is a fun little thing.

Yes, I think he is show quality. You should do it!

I don't show. I'm too afraid of bringing home a disease, but three BBS I raised are in a show this weekend. I'm thrilled when other people show my birds! I used to show Arabs too.

Your chick is really cute but not progressing as I would like to see at that age.

Yes, it is slower to develop especially comparing it to the CatDance babies, and pretty small too - you can see the size next to the feeder. So ugly it's cute! Ha! Ha!

Oh, be sure and tell us how they do. I would love to hear. Also, I really love those porcelain/lavender babies that are babies of yours, and the one you kept. I love that color as much as I love the lavender.

I will start posting pictures of the chicks when they enter a more presentable age. :D I did hatch one yesterday that I have to post!
