Self Blue (Lavender) Silkie Thread

I have a seperate pen of Silkies just for table eggs, I don't care what they are colored like...I'd rather have Silkies than any other breed, even for eating eggs!

I've had silkies for the last 9 years and have always eaten their eggs. Now, I'm not so sure....after you hatch them.....it's different. i hope I can get over this. Anyway, you can bet no lavender eggs will be eaten.

Matt, thanks for the complement. I know you like the lav's!

I have never had a single one of my chicks look like this before. I was told each time I was building my breeding stock that they were all pure silkie. When you pick it up you can see the fluffly feathers coming in. Also my mother in law had two geese about a week old in the brooder and they had started picking on this little guy. He had the full tail but they plucked him bald. I have them seperated now.
Here he is just about a week or so old.

I think those babies are very pretty, wonder what they will turn out to be???
Keep me in mind if they are "funky", I have a seperate pen of Silkies just for table eggs, I don't care what they are colored like...I'd rather have Silkies than any other breed, even for eating eggs!

The brownish colored ones are getting white wing feathers. I have no idea what those last two are going to look like. I can't get over the gray colored one. I just can't imagine what he is going to look like.

But, they may be some neat colors you can add to your table layers. I like funky, but I have no room for them. So, I guess WhitexLavender='s SUPER FUNKY!

JCoogle, your chick is cute and pretty colored but appears to be not a Silkie, at least not a 100% Silkie. those pretty feathers are not Silkie feathers.

MMMMM Might be a great "table layer" also.

And NO I'm not eating any eggs from from my Lavender hen.

I finally hatched a lavender chick last night from my split lav black cock or the split lav splash cockerel and one of the 2 or 3 black split lav hens!!! Yeah!!! I'll post pics as soon as I can get my DD to take one and email it to me!

I know, I know....not worth posting without a pic !!
