Self Blue (Lavender) Silkie Thread

Bobbi your Lavs and Isabel are beautiful. Of course I am biased about your silkies. Hope to see you in Lake City this Winter.

It was nice of you to post this, Jen. I really do think most serious breeders do not purposefully con buyers. There is so much genetic background in birds that they may have acquired a bird that is not as pure as they thought, not by anyone's deception.

So I contacted the breeder and sent pics of 2 of my so called lavenders, she says there is nothing wrong with them and sent me pics of 4 birds she got off of another well known breeder to show me what other are producing. In the end she said she would refund my money but wanted the birds back.

I have been flooded with emails and PM's wanting to see these so called lavenders so I took new picture tonight to share with everyone.

Please forgive my ignorance , but I would have thought them lavender , I think they are beautiful , the only ones I might have given question to , would have been the ones with the very dark feathering around the neck (hackles ) . But wouldn't you get that in them with all the black being breed in them? ( Are those 2 with dark feathering Roos ? ) hmmm I really would be the one out there thinking they were lavender . So I'm asking could someone please show a picture of what a lavender should look like ?? I know there must be more than me that is really confused about the lavender color and seeing a couple of pictures would help for those of us that don't have breeders of this color close by .

The lighting is messing the colors up. Two is a splash, does four have dashes of color or is it the pic? My blues had dark neck feathers but not that dark, again is it the lighting?
