If it is the same thing one of mine had, which I'm sure resulted from a head injury, it is definitely worth the trouble, in my opinion. She had the crooked neck--clear down under her breast and twisted so she was "stargazing." She also walked backwards. I treated her with Vitamin E, twice a day. I also had to force feed her at first, and then would carefuly uncurl her had and put it in the feed tray--she always ate hungrily. She got her own water, but got totally soaked doing it. It took a month or two for her to return to normal, but she's had no trouble since then. Others have used Vitamin E, PolyViSol without Iron, and Prednisone, which was obtained from their vet. I just about an hour ago brought in one of my own young porcelain cockerels who is beginning to show signs of the same thing, and have asked my husband to get PolyViSol.
The bird I treated for it recovered completely, and I sold her very cheaply to a youngster in our Okies in the BYC group this spring, being careful to let them know she'd had this problem. She is a beautiful bird, and I knew from the time she was tiny she was a good one. She recently won champion bantam for her new owner! A friend showed a blue partridge silkie rooster at Pryor who'd recovered from the same thing. He still kept his beak slightly "tucked in," but is a beautiful bird.
