Self Blue (Lavender) Silkie Thread

My only problem with whites is that in the fierce Arizona sun I smiply cannot keep them white enough; even when they are in the shade full time. But a sparkling white is indeed gorgeous.

I think that part of the reason it might seem to be getting heated is that those of us who work with and love AOV is that we get SO much grief about it. I very STRONGLY believe that one should be able to choose the breed or variety that speaks to their heart without being told that some other breed, or variety or criteria for selecting a breed or variety is "better" or "more worthy."

Agreed!

We could talk showgirls and lighten up the conversation.

I started with AOV and added silkies to better my showgirls and ALL my showgirl breedings involve silkies. Now I won't try to say my birds are near the top of the list around but I have this desire to improve and have the best I can.

I am going to be using blacks more with the paints and plan to more than likely cross back again on my lavenders and I would hope that most of what I am using are good quality blacks. Whites are special here too and AGAIN, I am not one of the top breeders but I do think I have some nice birds. When I think on it...there are top breeders of many varieties and the average person can't afford to start there so there is a need for some of us lesser winning breeders to have stock to offer. You start with what you can afford and work UP. Honestly I feel most breeders are doing what they can to improve their flocks. There are breeders and there are dealers out here. I think we all know what the difference is.

I DO have a true love for AOV but I do my best to improve my silkie varieties here at my farm. Call it the spice of life in Paradise.

I put my first 22 lav and split/lav eggs into my incubator today! Hopefully I'll have good fertility. I was going to pick up my Dickey incubator on the way home from Shawnee but after driving over 4000 miles, I was just too tired to go the extra 5 hours. BUT...I was able to borrow a brand new Dickey from a friend locally that isn't hatching right now...so I brought it home, fired it up, stabilized the temp and humidity and popped them in.

My avatar is my only lav pullet...the others are gorgeous black girls.

Yeah!!!!

It was Deb Steinberg showing and selling the paints.

Oh dear lord, why oh why can I never be at the right place at the right time. I've been asking around about paints off and on for a couple of years!!!
