I think that was a typo and the bidder meant to put the decimal somewhere else. At least that is what I hope! LOL! I ALWAYS do autobid when applicable in auctions. If the bidder had done autobid it would have just upped each bid made by a dollar up the the maximum bid.

Batcave I understand occassional oops in buying eggs. And for myself I was trying to be very cautious I reachered for about year. The problem is no body wants to say anything. My eggs were replaced twice and I have some nice buffs and a couple whites. But not one lav. And I paid for lav. I was willing to pay a costly amount because I figured the breeder did the biggest part of the work. I myself am aware very aware and will warn anyone looking to buy. There are only a few that I will purchase from just because they hang out and chat silkie doesn't make them honest. I was actually told we live in a dog eat dog world. I guess I'm gunna have to figure out what that means. Where come from we take pride in our selves little more then that. Tammy

wasn't saying that my chicks that hatch striped or diluted striped aren't lav, they are! They feather in lav. In fact, one of the nicest young winter hatch lavs, which I think is a pullet, hatched a pale blue (like a splash) with slightly darker stripes. She has feathered in lav. I'm not saying you were or weren't duped, I'm just stating that while I cannot explain it, my lav and split chicks have hatched out looking,.. well,.. it's like a box of chocolates. If something is really weird I will try to mark them in some way so I can see what they feather in like as compared to the color of the chick down.

They are definitely Lavs and split for lav, this is confirmed by looks and by test breedings.

Mine wasn't just a light striped one. I still have her. Here's pics of hatch (maybe a week after?) and pics of last week. She'll be 2 months soon. I did see the pics of the light striping etc. on this forum but mine def doesn't look like that lol. Not sure what to do with her yet, still deciding....

She looks like some of my lav splits when the lav roo was paired with a non-black hen. My lav/black splits are always a bright black. The splits that look like that; silver partridge (gray), when bred back to the parent or to each other should produce some pure lavs.

Yeah, all of my Black/Lav splits that I know have no other colors in them are either black in color or Lav. I had 2 Black/Lav splits and hatched out some eggs before the parents were killed. I've only had 2 pure lavs hatch out and they were clear at hatch, no striping....the rest (about 8-9 now) were all black except maybe just a very slight lighter color on the chest and wingtips in a few..but still "black". This particular chick hatched out a partridge coloring with the brownish colors...no blacks at all...just neutral colors. Now she is all black, white & gray colors? She was NOT from my birds, but eggs I had bought, only one to hatch. Strange thing how she changed colors like that lol.

BetsyOK....If I bred her/him back to a pure Lav though, won't that be crossing colors and could pass that onto offspring? I mean if one of the parents were Lav and one was White...wouldn't that pass on some funky colors that you shouldn't use in a Lav breeding. I just want to stick with pure Lavs or Black/Lav splits so I don't get confused and KNOW what colors I'm working with.
