Self Blue (Lavender) Silkie Thread

Aw Rilly, please don't say that!

This is the lav roo that you & I were bidding for last fall.

His dad is a 3rd generation lav from Fawkes Feather Farm....mom is black lav split from Bobbi Porto.

I expected black chicks, but not blues!

I think I just give up on this lav project....I have spent so much money on this roo & black hens of the best breeding...so frustrating!!

Anybody want blue silkie chicks....free...come get 'em...I have about 40 now & the incubator's full again.

Edited to add:

I just went out & had a cold, hard look at my boy out in the sun....pics below...he's now 1 year old & hasn't had a bath lately (please excuse the dirt). What I see now is a blue roo....possibly splash as some of you thought.....

Oh that stinks! So sorry... Don't give up. You can get a new roo... you already have the black girls. The babies look to be of fabulous type.

Sell the ones with good toes to start your new lavender rooster fund! If you have 75 chicks and sell them all for even $5/ea... that's $375 (can you say 'CRAIGS LIST'

!). That should get you a new rooster... and maybe even a hen!

Keep the other one if that makes you happy! Start a BBS pen... you have a rooster you love to start it!

We always have LOTS and LOTS of R.E.A.L. lavender roosters every year.

I just got the most beautiful black silkie roo from Premier Silkies!!! I'm telling you, this guy is a HUNK! He'll be bred to the gorgeous lavender silkie hen I bought from Bren earlier this year. They'll produce splits, oh but what fabulous splits they will be.
