as long as it stays ressive it well not do any thing to ur splash it when u line breed when it show up so keep adding new blood evey so often and u should do good

Hi Guys!

How is everybody's fall so far? Is anyone showing their lavenders this fall????

Here is one of our non bearded girls with a split black lavender fella from this springs hatch.

that I do not know. I will have to wait to see sense I do not have any lavender silkies or anyone I can borrow a rooster from to see. That will be my next project I guess is to find a lavender silkie roo. lol

Hi, I am in Australia and we don't have lavenders.I am one of the few (or many) trying to make them.
Your site has the best information!! I have only bred a couple so far and still a way to go to get better type.
Can you tell me if the males get a few dark whisps like very fine splash marks. A male of mine gets a few very dark hairs
and then over a few weeks they sort of disappear and dilute into lavender colouring. Next minute a few more dark hairs
appear in different places.Is this normal?

How fun to be a pioneer there in Australia!

Yes it is normal to get some with a few darker lavender wisps. Seems especially prominent in the males.

We (Darling Farms) are trying to not keep the ones that have that as we prefer a smother more even color.

Also noticeable is a bit of barring usually around the collar and foot feathers.

Would love to see your progress and hear more about what you used to get the lavender color in the silkies.
