Self Sufficient Breeding vs. Dual Purpose Breeding

So, I take it that your calling me a liar. There's no use in arguing with stupidity. The Lord feeds the birds just as the Bible says...
No one called you a liar, we need more info on what exactly you're trying to do, games are one thing but duel purpose likely won't Do well without some supplemented feed. We don't have the same strains of chickens like our grandparents did, ours are more productive, there need more than free range unless you live in the right climate.
p.s Don't name my Christ if you're going to act like an arrogant fool, you can't be insulting then say someone else is stupid then say 'God Bless' sarcastically (Ex 20:7) to make up for your behavior.

First Off, No One dictates to me about my faith in Christ, or speaking of it? NO ONE!!!
I didn't think that poster was trying to control what you say, just stating his own intentions to not listen.

So if you want his knowledge, you can choose to leave religion out of this particular discussion.
Or, if you want religion in the discussion, he will choose to stay out of the conversation and he will also choose to not read your posts.

@U_Stormcrow If I have mis-stated your position, please correct me :)

The same could be said about selective culling projects.
I didn't mention those. But at least there, birds are well-cared for while they are alive and their deaths have a purpose, like becoming responsibly raised meat. And the chickens have good lives that are over quickly and humanely - not wasting away to the point of starvation or being left to fend off predators.
I don't believe you made a fair comparison.

I would have to disagree with this. Bringing extreme religious views into a chicken discussion and ridiculing people for "cursing the Lord" and "turning our faith" is a little shove-y. It's about chickens. Not religion. Lol
I agree that religion has little to do with the topic at hand. But just because somebody feels a certain way and talks about it doesn't mean he is shoving it down your throats. Also thinking that our nation has strayed from Christ isn't an extreme view.

Lots of people free ranger their chickens all the time. Loosing a bird our two a year isn't cruel.
ETA Game birds don't starve and waste away free ranging, in fact the case could be made that penning them up would be cruel.

Go back and read his words...he said he Doubts it! Only people who are city folks turned want to be homesteaders, doubt what they can't learn from a YouTube video. I imagine the guy doesn't have any idea of what a game chicken is. Those of us who have raised them all our lives, just let our hens we're not breeding run free and fend for themselves. Now these city slickers who know nothing about them want to call me a liar and Doubt what others and myself have done for years. I think that they don't like it that it's not their idea. So, now they throw in in Feral Chickens... 😆 Give Me A Break...
I'm not going to argue with these YouTube Know It All's...
I do not think @3KillerBs is calling you a liar when you say you already have done it.

I think that is a request for more information (asking where you are located), and a warning to anyone else who wants to try it.

In SOME parts of the world, it is possible to have chickens that find their own food and do fine. If you have already had self-sufficient chickens, you probably live in one of those places.

But in OTHER parts of the world it is not possible. For example, I grew up in Alaska. It would be impossible for a chicken to find enough food in the winter when everything is covered with snow all winter. Chickadees can do it in that climate, but chickens cannot.

Many of the people on this forum live in places where self sufficient chickens are not possible. The comment about "feral chickens" is one way to recognize what kind of place a person lives in: if some chickens are surviving all on their own, that proves the climate is suitable.

I think you're posting on the wrong thread, maybe this one would suit you better? lol https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...hrist-everyone-welcome.1135475/#post-17580760

The OP was being shouty and reactive. In my opinion, that's extreme. If people don't share your views, don't be reactive and mean to them for it.

City slickers? Youtubers? You're ranting nonsense about people you know nothing about.
