Thanks!

I'll have to see if ours carries it. I have *always* used Tide, but when the price of it went to $17.00 when I used to spend $11.00, I had to stop buying it.
I'd love to go more natural, the cheap detergents don't clean as well.

The washing soda is by arm and hammer but it is NOT the same as baking soda, it is in the laundry isle along with the fels naptha
If you can't actually find fels naptha look and see if they have another type of laundry bar soap in that area. They should

I have the shopping list and will be going to buy the ingredients for the laundry soap tomorrow!! I can't wait to try it!! I learn sooo much from you guys!!

As far as the home grown chicken feed goes... I planted ALOT of extra spinach, turnip greens and lettuces. The girls have been loving the "extra" treats they have been getting.

Are there substitutes for the borax? My husband has sensitive skin and he breaks out if we use borax

well if we use just about anything except for Era or Tide. Wont use Tide though, toooooooo expensive.

I don't know of any substitutes for borax, maybe just try omitting it but it probably won't work so well. The recipe is great for hard water...oh! maybe try adding salt. Salt is a water softner which helps boost detergent power...Borax is also to help boost detergent power
I would try substituting with salt if I were you

wow salt? Never knew that. Do I use as much salt as I would the Borax, or less?

ETA: We do have hard water

I would use the same amount, try it anyway. Yes I have used salt in my laundry at times for extra dirty loads, and I aso sometimes use vinegar too:>) Vinegar is a natural fabric softner
