Edited 8/6: Lenny is sold--Thanks Double Happiness! Cas is still available

I have 2 11 month old (hatched Sept 19 2013) roosters for sale. I am willing to drive to the Denver area or points East to meet. Both these roosters have had a rooster quieting surgery in April of 2014 with variable results. Both are Faverolles/Brahma x Welsummer crosses out of a project I had going to see if could get a large dual purpose darker brown egg layer. I have decided to abandon the project and work on a purebred since I have limited space.

Sold: Lenny is about half (or a little less) as loud as he was pre-surgery -- while in bed I was listening to him crow early this morning and he was not as loud as the road traffic and quite a lot quieter than the non-quieted roosters.

Lenny is in his own run adjacent to two other roosters and does not fight with them through the fence. He has been very well behaved with me coming into his pen to feed (stays a respectful distance, no foot-stamping or shoulder-dropping etc).

Available: Cas is his hatch-mate but his type is more of the Faverolles/Brahma and though he is quieter than he was, he has a slight whistle to his crow. He on occasion has dropped a shoulder when I walk into his pen (never been aggressive per se, but the dropped shoulder is a concern), so I would recommend he be used in a flock-protection/free range situation or be bought by someone experienced at handling roosters only.

I am looking to place them in homes and are priced at $25 Lenny and for $15 for Cas.

Video of the two crowing can be seen on Youtube:

They have been tested for AI and Pullorum prior to travel and the tests were negative. NPIP.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or need more information.

My bf just agreed we can take Lenny!!

I have got to get my gelato maker plugged in after I haul it out tho, as I'm prepping to spin my hack of ben &jerry's cherry garcia ice cream home made. I'm well known for my fabulous gluten free desserts.. and regretfully to say Korean spicy fried chicken.

But Lenny will have 9 lady chickens to bow chicka bow wow with. I think they will get along?!

I'm so excited waiting for Lenny. The ladies are singing their egg songs loudly this am when I brought out leftover salad stuff and blueberries from last night.

The cage is set up on the front lawn with fresh straw and water just now, so he can chill for a bit after the drive.

When my bf gets home for lunch we'll take Lenny to his 9 new ladies and take it from there.

I just told them mama got them a boyfriend, egg songs are going off, no eggs tho yet. Any moment tho... come on eggs. Jeanette stopped laying last week, but new additions and one loss, so hoping Lenny will really cheer them up and get the eggs rolling on the regular again. I miss getting a blue egg everyday almost.

What the cluck Jeanette, what the CLUCK?

just curious, how much did the pre-quieting surgery cost?

Hello mypurtychicknes. Sorry for the delay in the response.

I am a veterinarian in Colorado. In April I drove 5 of my roosters (one had profound skeletal abnormalities and was humanely euthanized prior to surgery as a cadaver surgery) down to Dr James Richards in Oklahoma http://quietroosters.com/available-birds/ . He was very generous with his time and taught me the procedure using the roosters I brought down including Cas and Lenny. He did not charge me money to teach the procedure but the trip was 1800 miles round trip with two hotel stays plus additional overhead. So if you average the cost of the trip over the roosters, they should be priced at $400 each. I am selling them at such a reduced price becasue I want them to go to good homes. They deserve that after such a long drive and taking part in my learning experience. The goal for me was to learn this very technical procedure so that hopefully in the future clients will have an option to have the quieting procedure done instead of re-homing or eating if the rooster is otherwise a nice rooster. The procedure will be priced somewhere between $200 and $400 in the future depending on the age of the rooster and if there are any complications.
