As for the 4am, i guess they took the chicks to her house around 7 am according to the tracking, and she PMed me at 10:02 saying they're at the PO and she's pickin them up inan hour so here i am gnawing off my fingers LOL

Niki, i am really curious to see how the coturnix chicks will fair on their journey and i hope for a low, if any, mortality rate!! I didnt catch the age of the birds, were they day olds?.........Jason

they were just about 3 weeks old

I hope so too!

I am not willing to ship out day olds just because they are so fragile without heat (i believe much more so than chicken chicks at hatching least from what i've seen) so i wanted them feathered to withstand the cold. Before they left they were almost completly feathered except around their eyes basically

welp we're leaving to go fishing... i cant wait any longer... eek lol! I am going ot wonder all day long until i get back! LOL! well if she posts here befor ei do with the news then IHOpe all is well

GREAT NEWS YOU GUYS!!!


Melissa called me while I was out on the creek (so she left a message). She said that they arrived safe but one of the smaller ones was dead apparently crushed by the others. I forgot that I had added a few extra younger chicks (notfluffy but pin feathered) in with the bigger ones as I knew they'd keep them warm but sadly one must have been smooshed.

I am so happy though that the rest are fine so thatmeans she should have 16 babies!

OH and she said she would have PMed me but her computer isnt letting her online. When she does come on hopefully she has a camera and can show off her new cuties! I am soo happy! Couldnt have asked for a better day so far!!! Caught a decient sized brown trout, didnt fall in the creek, and almost caught a HUGE PIKE lol.....then I get in the jeep with the best message ever left on my cell phone!

I am now a sucessful live chick shipper-outer haha will be shipping another thing of chicks here in a few weeks to another Paian who's 5 hours away he'll get htem next day so im not as nervvous about them
