Separating drake/mating questions-Pekin

I'm losing the separation battle!!!

I have had to add another 2 foot wall to his separation pen (his door and side are 5 feet) and this guy keeps flying out:eek:, up and over....I thought Pekins could fly!!! I eased up on the separation 2 weeks ago because i was potentially going to get 2 adult hens.....but that is not going to happen now. They seemed fine during the day being out together so i have just let them be. Well Ted has started to show more aggressiveness over the past 2 days. Pulling on her, dragging her into the pool and then taking for ever for the deed to get done or just standing on her back in the yard or while in the water. He got her neck pretty good last night. She has been trying to get away and even has stood up with him on her back and shook him off. This morning while taking care of them... Ted of course has flown the coop again, while at the pool she seemed to be flitting with him and as soon as he got close she started to attack HIM!!! grabbing his neck, trying to mount him....so i have not a clue as to what the heck is going on.

It seems Ted has gone into a small molt of some sorts. He has lost or plucked out his curl tail feather and there are a hand full of feather every morning when i let them out (they have no problem being separated at night and he never tries to fly over). I am not sure if this the reason for this behavior but....i feel like :he...Seriously!

OK, Rant over.........

Well I guess we should never underestimate the male hormones.:barnie

Will there be any ducklings at the tractor supply in your area soon? I know you were preferring adults.

Currently the separation pen is only 3 feet high (why I thought it was 5ft is still...well I am just SMDH)
