Seperating silkies help!

Hi,
Wow alot of good info!
Thanks all.

Our grey hen hasn't started laying yet, maybe a month or so.
So I should put her with our whites? she is of better quality than our whites and maybe she will hatch better babies?
Is that correct?
And would she then have some greys and some whites?
Thanks,
Everyone's been a help!

Well it would depend on exactly what gene is at work in your whites and what else they are hiding underneath the white coloring, but in my own the resulting chicks are always grey. So in my own project so far they've been fairly predictable. You could try a test batch and see what you get against your white roo, and if you get alot of unusual colors then you may have other genes hiding that keep it from working and know to scratch that idea. But I would say at least as a start your white roo against her would be more compatible than the other colors you have.
