Sun Oct 12 at the West Gardiner Rod and Gun Club in West Gardiner Maine Chickenstock and swap. Hope you all can come. It is about 5 mins away from the one we did in Litchfield, Maine

new hampshire poultry fanciers show and swap is always on that weekend. so no it isnt a chickenstock. it is different

Glad they are doing well. I missed out on the buff silkie chicks, but there is always next time. And the BO is doing beautifully as well. She has settled in. Today I let her and the two EE's I bought mix with my other feathered friends. No pecking to speak of.

Cheaptrick, did my other antwerp settle in? Last I saw, your daughter was loving her to pieces?

Anyone ever think of doing a Massachusetts Swap? The Holliston one was kind of smallish and not as fun.

Julie...your little Antwerp is being LOVED to PIECES by ME now!! She is now my absolute favorite...she got a nice bath and blown dried and snuggling with me right NOW as I'm typing this post! I have them all in my basement in the brooder in quarantine for 30 days! My youngest loves her too....she named her Princess!!

I freaked out this morning...I let my older girls out of their coop and I had an almost bare naked chicken! They are seriously molting...I'm going to have to clean the coop out...it looks like it snowed in there! LOTS and LOTS of protein for them now....poor things....it looks very uncomfortable.

All my older hens are all abuzz....they know something IS UP...they know some new neighbors are coming!

Okay am I being negligent? I provide dust and physically dust my birds but I never bathed or blow dried them. Is this a must do or is cheaptrick a little nutty?

there is a chicken swap in westford ma, every first sunday of the month, its held at the sportsmans club there on west st.
www.nasbirdclub.org is the group that holds it, you have to be a member to sell, but anyone can buy there.

oh and the only time i bathe a bird is if they are going to be in the house for a bit, or if i am going to take it to show.
if they have mites i dust or spray them.

lol, cheryl, she means the fear and the actions taken to control sickness that could pass from one bird to another i think.
the teaching of newcomers that they shouldnt take their new birds home and mix with their old birds etc

Taking some of your birds to a fair or exhibition? Keep those birds separated from the rest of your flock and watch them for at least 2 weeks after the event to ensure that they didn’t pick up a disease.

New birds should be kept separate from your flock for at least 30 days before putting them with the rest of your birds. To prevent disease, it is best not to mix young and old birds or birds from different species or different sources.
