OK...I admit it....I wash the birds I get from swaps!! But my flock now....is only washed when it rains. We had a bout with mites earlier this season so I did not want to take any chances again.

COME on...admit it...some of you wash your silkies feet feathers from time to time? LOL

The silkies I got are BIG powder PUFFS now!

I can not imagine washing the girls, well Audrey and Olivia yeah,, sure. But the queen Vivian? Mae, Nat and Iggy?? No way. Vivian is finally not giving me the stink eye every time I go to feed them. Maybe she knew I was laughing at her after all?

Seriously though. What do you wash them with? Ivory dishwashing liquid? Do you wash them in the sink or a bucket? Do you get them completely soaked?
Oh I can see it now. Audrey in the sink. My husband will die

Don't LAUGH...but I use my cp soap!

In the Sink with WARM water...wet them down...lather up the bar and usually lather their feet and bums....rinse well. Wrap them in a towel and blow dry till fluffy.

The one's I've done LOVE it...

Ok...I'm embarrased NOW!! LOL

I thought everyone washed them before shows and exhibitions??

SHAME on you all selling DIRTY birds!! LOL

HEY....I'm going to make a soap called HOT CHICKEN soap!! I'll make a fortune!

i am a new user. went to the milford swap. bought a black silkie from the lady who had 16 black chicks and 2 black roosters. did anyone else buy one? how are they doing? mine is doing well. it is sooo pretty.

For a heads up, my husband and I were at the Tractor Supply Store in Tilton, that just opened up, and told them about the good time had in Milford this past Sunday.

We suggested they hold one also and we were told that they will have their own chicken swap in the spring.....either March or April.

We don't know if we can wait until then.
