Yes.....we noticed the TSC in Chichester yesterday going to the Deerfield fair. It should be opening very soon I would say......cool. Yes.....another chicken swap indeed!
bought 1 chicken at the swap in milford and i need help!! have had her in the house for 2 weeks. last night i found 2 small bugs on her. tiny, white to clear. she has been shedding a lot of feathers for the last week. 1 week ago i bought 3 chicks 2 weeks old. they are in the same room in a brooder. what do i have and how do i fix it? do i treat everybody? i also have 5 chicks 7 weeks old in the garage that came from the same place as the 2 week olds. i also have 4 pullets 3 months old outside in a coop. 2 dogs and 2 cats in the house that are not allowed in the room where the chicks are. who do i treat and with what?
malation is available at any garden center.Dilute with water, not sure of mixture I just guess at it.
I put it in a spray bittle and spray everyone. Are these chicks feathered? If not I wouldn't use malation.Do not spray it in their eyes.I will also kill bugs on your plants, that is what it is for,but it works great on mites.
A good practice to when you are bringing new birds home,is to spray them, then quarentine them so if they carry any diseases you can treat them before you introduce them to your flock.

Hey Wendy, The buffs are doing well, the black cochin is ruling the roost of the bantams, and presently they are all together. My poor sweet silkie continues to be picked on, and the rir feet have not gotten any better, though she isn't complaining...Didn't you say the cochin was laying eggs? None yet, unless they are hidden in the grass!
she was laying, i would say new place give her a bit, although she was off and on here but mostly on, she took a day or 2 off, we didnt have her here but for a month or so, she was laying fine, i had her penned here
sorry your rir isnt much better, is she acting like it bothered her before? and now>?
interesting that that silkie is the low one, usually here, after a bit they get over it and just except. poor thing.
the buff orps, i kept 5 pullets and a roo for myself, something came in and took all but 2 of the pullets and the roo. that sucked.
thanks for the advice tony. how long after i treat do these guys need to be seperate? the little ones were 2 weeks when i got them a week ago so are now 3 weeks. they are extra small showgirls so have some bare skin
