September 2015 Hatch-A-long!!

Day 7 candling done last night. Only 6 of 32 appear to be clear, so I'm happy with that. One other appears to have quit early, or maybe just slow developing. The blood vessels were light. I didn't pull each egg out of the basket, I just candled in place from the top, and as crowded as they are, that one was hard to tell. But good movement and vessels in the rest! Yeah!
Air cells look a little on the large side, but not enough to cause me add any water just yet.

Sorry for those that have lost eggs! My goodness. I think I may have some that are clear as well, hard to tell at this point, too early to tell with the porous ones. Only got 8 eggs shipped to me. Crossing fingers for shipped eggs as usual.

Yes sorry for everyone else that has also lost eggs I know its inevitable with shipped eggs and even with nonshipped eggs sometimes but its still a bummer. I know we can only hope and cross our fingers that the rest of our eggs or our next set go better. Good luck everyone.

Day 4!  Don't give up on them.  Day 7..at least.  Day 10 for sure.  I have some silkie eggs that are showing little tiny embryos in a few eggs, but still just the big spot in the others.  They develop at different levels.   Even with me changing the eggs around in the bator to make sure they get an even baked side. 
I'm on day 3.  Yep, I candle early too.  I just know that some of these eggs don't show anything for a while. 

Oh I won't be giving up on any yet but I'm 95% sure most of my eggs are duds... The Polands and most of the Wynadottes don't even look fertile I candled the eggs before I set them and one looked like it had a 4 day embryo floating around inside it... Only 1 of the Lavender cuckoo Pekins has a embryo inside it the rest same story as the Polands... My little booted bantams now those eggs are good 5/6 rest very disappointing :-/ They have until tomorrow night then they're being binned/thrown and replaced with Silkies!

Guess I am hatching again. Picked up Jersey Giants today. Adults and chicks and he threw in a dozen hatching eggs and i see she laid another one here so they will be set tomorrow.

@Ciryluk3g I did some polish my last hatch, and they seemed to develop the slowest of all. I thought they were clear till about day 10 I think! Then they blossomed and hatched beautifully. Well, actually they hatched very slowly, but all exactly the same. Pip, wait 12 hours, add another little crack, wait another 12 hours, take another 2 hours to zip! Lol

@Joplus I dont know if this is possible, but if you could still edit post #1, I was thinking it would be nice to add a list of who is hatching, with expected hatch dates. Might be too much work, and understandable if you don't want to, but it crossed my mind, and thought I'd mention it.

My lockdown for Silky, Cochin starts tomorrow. The bantams are due Friday. I'm so nervous as I just hatched out 10 EE mix Saturday. I'm curious to see if it affected the other eggs.
Next 3 days are going to go sooooo slow.

I understand. I've taken eggs out that I thought smelled rotten only to find a beautiful lil life inside. And the overwhelming feeling of heartbreak and grief takes over while I watched the life go out of them. Oh the guilt is horrendous! And there was the chick I sat on and killed recently. I think it's normal to feel sick to your stomach. But as said before,don't get down on yourself or dwell on it. You are human and the chick is in heaven with my chick,Hope!

And this is why I love this group, you guys understand. I almost cried, and still wanna kick myself.

I can't see anything in these Marans eggs

I have 12 set too and it's sooo frustrating!! Beautiful color but pain to see anything. I'm wondering if I buy a expensive ovascope if it would make a difference?
