At day 19.5 now. (I set them at 5pm so its not truly day 20 until then. its 8.30am now). Temp and humidity staying constant. I topped up both the water troughs in the bottom (through a top up hole in the side) and made sure the sponge was still wet last night and this morning. Humidity at 65%.
No sign of activity when I left for work this morning so still waiting. Hoping I have at least an external pip tonight![]()
Ah time zones. I just realised you must be 12hrs behind as its 11am on the 7th hereWho is setting eggs tomorrow? (The 7th?) Lucky day I hope!
This is so incredibly helpful thank you! I tried candling a few but since they are CCL eggs they are too thick and the eggs too blue or something... I could see some air sacs I believe but I saw no veins just too dark so till day 8 then I'll check again. XD I checked my thermometers max and min... The max was 101.3 at some point and I don't know for how long, such a mess and the lowest humidity was 17 ugh! (But as you said not the key to this so gotta ignore that :x) Now that I'm back I can keep it much more stable hopefully, but hopefully those few days didn't completely ruin my hatch.
I'll definitely check out the read, I'm sure it'll be super helpful! Thank you so much! I knew the whole after 18 to raise it up but all she said was keep it above 25, I thought in Oregon it'd keep it humid in there but guess not! Sorry I sound like such a newbie air head I'll let you guys know again on day 8 the progress unless anything else happens.
I am disappointed with my eggs. Today is day 5 and I candled the 6 la bresse eggs, it appears that only 2 are showing veining. I know it's common for shipped eggs to not develop well due to being shaken during transportation, but really disappointed that only 2 have made it so far. And who knows if either of those make it to hatch.
I went ahead and ordered another 6 from a different breeder, they should be here and ready to incubate by Thursday, which will be 1 weeks difference between the 1st batch going in. Will I be able to brood these chicks together if there is a week between them?

All the best for your hatch![]()
Try using your cell phone light. It sounds like whatever light you're using is to dim as I can see in CCL eggs fine with my headlamp.
I've brooded chicks with up to four weeks difference. After that the little ones feel left behind or picked on lol.
