Here it is September 3rd and one has started a September thread yet. I'm shocked.

Anyway I went looking for the thread as I will be setting a test batch in the incubator this Sunday. I will collect today and tomorrow to add the the last two days so I can test the fall seasons hatchability as I moved roosters around when fertility started to drop.

At the moment I plan to set Aloha's only. That can change when Sunday rolls around if I don't have enough to fill the incubator tray.

Broody Bella is living up to her name yet again so I will be giving her some eggs this week, I'm wanting more bantam breeds so I'll have to purchase them for her. That may be it for this month as I separated my roosters from the hens to rearrange them and give time to clear out the previous roosters sperm, they go back in with the ladies tomorrow but I doubt I will get many fertilized eggs in time for this months hatch-a-long.

I just put 11 eggs in lockdown last night, due to hatch at noon on Friday. Four wheaten/blue wheaten marans, and seven blue (BBS) ameraucanas. Should have been fourteen total, but I had two ameraucana duds and one early quitter.

This is my very first time hatching chicks to sell to someone, so I'm hoping the 11 that made it to lockdown all hatch nice and healthy! And maybe if it works out I could make it a regular thing. I could even justify buying a larger incubator.... ;)

Broody Bella gets the smallest 6 of these as she's a small bantam. the incubator will get the other 6. Some fun genetics in this lot, possibility of frizzles, naked necks and frizzle naked necks :love

Always a good thing to start your incubator up early… checked temperature and was 105.3 😆 (Haven’t hatched anything in months)

I keep thinking there will be only an October hatch, then remembered the 6 eggs from the flock that went under a broody a week and a half ago. She’s still a pullet but has been pretty dedicated. Wonder if I can sneak a few quail eggs in there lol
