I didn't know there was a facebook swap too. Tell me more.

I've picked up my eggs they came in great shape do I get any hints as to what they are? My PR's are hatching now and I have one Delaware it's pipped and Marans are always on their own schedule

I just have to show off these babies. It's a miracle they made it. I broke them out myself. Three of them are refrigerator chicks. I did an experiment. I got 4 eggs out of the fridge of my hens and 4 fresh of my hens. I had 4 eggs from my Production red and 4 from the EE's. They all had a splash silkie roo for a daddy. Only one of these chicks that hatched are from a fresh egg. The other 3 are refrigerator eggs. They where all fertile and 1 stopped around middle way and the other at about lock down. One was zipping till it was 3/4 way around and stopped. It zipped in the middle of the egg. So I stepped in to helpand it died just before I got it out. It was very wet so I suppose it drown. So I hurried up and got the other 3 out. They where ready to hatch but where so wet and full of fluid they where swollen and couldn't move. After I got them out and I patted some of the wetnesw off and put them back in the hatcher to finish drying and fluffing up. When I got up this morning to check on them they needed a little fluffing assistance so I fluffed them up and put them in the brooder with the rest. They turned out to be beautiful chicks. There are 2 that I am especially proud of. First of all, they all have 5 toes in perfect placement for silkies, walnut combes and 3 have black skin. One is solid black, skin and all and just under it's beak it looks like it has a beard. The down is slightly lighter there. The black one came from the Production Red hen and so did the brown one. The brown onehas the chipmunk stripes and pale skin, but is the same as the others with the comb and toes. The other two came from EE hens same roo and they have dark black skin, 5 perfect toes, walnut comb and light lavender down. In the pictures there are 2 that are from a different hatch and different chickens not of my own. They are form lavender Orphingtons. They are in the back. Sorry but they are just so pretty I have go brag.
I forgot to mention they all have feathered feet and legs.

I'm got eggs hatching and I don't know who sent them! I got 3 boxes of eggs that day and I was in a hurry when I set them so I didn't mark them. They have a D on them or I think that's what it is. They are rather small and a pinkish brown color.

I have 2 chicks so far!! Will try to get pictures this weekend if I don't forget. I'm not very good with picture taking.

I also have eggs from elieugene6 hatching, 2 so far from the eggs with dates written on the tip of the eggs. Yellow chicks!!

Will keep everyone posted.

Glad to hear that. Let me know if any of the blue/green ones hatch. Mine died before hatching. I know it had a pea comb and was yellow but thats about it. I got 4 chicks from the ones that developed, 2 yellow, one yellow w/black spots and one reddish brown.

After candling again, i'm down to 3 eggs, a berchen, a frizzle and a buff cochin. The other berchen died because I could see it's little legs moving last time I candled and see it's heart beating. This time no movement at all and no progress from last time either.

The temps and humidity have been better so I guess it was just fate. Better luck next time.
