ssshhhh, don't tell DH but I think i'll do the Oct one too--since who knows, might be the last for a while.

We have a proper barn going up next month

and we just put a good portion of our existing flock up for auction here and on CL today. Soooo i should have room for a few more! lol there's ALWAYS room for more, right, RIGHT????

I'd be so happy to hear how my swap partner's eggs are doing. They haven't posted since they received them so I hope all is well. We have had just excellent fertility here and for others who have hatched local but I've never shipped so I'm all kinds of nervous to make they are doing well. It's been about 12 days since they received them (hint, hint).

You can never have too many chickens, as long as you never have too little money!

Last winter, the monthly swaps didn't stop. Only in July and August did we take a break

I meant with the new auction style I didn't know if they would continue. sounds like they will but I think I'm still up for it.

Afterall, we DID get another incubator at the swap last weekend AND plan to go to the Lucasville swap NEXT weekend and I just may find one there! I mean, they are supposed to have tons of stuff everyone was talking about it last weekend. I'm picturing aisles and aisles of bators! lol

This is kinda funny...we had someone out at the house to discuss the fencing for the new barn. He used to raise ALL kinds of birds himself so we were in very good company. He asked (kinda joking, but I do intend to follow up on it) if we wanted a real baby incubator to use to hatch! said they have one they used to use. Heck, if I can get that WOW

that would be SO COOL!

Oh yes, I see what you're saying. From the way it sounds, they are considering 'doing away with' swap threads such as this, which would totally suck. Hopefully, that doesn't happen.

oh,they are so cute, and yes I like crested duckies.
Thanks you so much

Oh I forgot to mention that you may end up with a buff. I don't know how considering my only male is Rouen and I sent only eggs from my Rouen female but I hatched a buff outta her eggs. It is the only one we kept from the first batch. My husband fell in love with it.

Update on my eggs (sort of

)

First batch I got had 2 of one breed and 6 of another. The 2 are both developing, and 3 of the 6 are as well.

Second batch was just set yesterday, 7 eggs from 8 sent. One was cracked and another has a very 'swollen' air cell, so I'll update on those when the time comes

Any other updates?

I candled(I had a "smell" in the incubator) It was a yucky duck egg, I have been having the worse luck with duck eggs, I just want some pekin ducks but it is not working out...So because I was there I candled and took a look at my swap eggs and they are looking great

Mine aren't doing so great.

I can't see veins in any. They are all dark inside so I don't know. But the air sacs are really misshapen and loose. What did I do wrong? When I candled before I put them in, most of them looked good. They had normal shaped air sacs. They are also real loose, hopefully someone knows what I mean by that.
