***SEPTEMBER HATCH-A-LONG come join in***

we have a few of this cross already from these parents...they look like cochins with muffs and beards. They color on them is strange though. They have ablack neck and under their body and wings, plus their tail is black. Their backs and wings are white...very strange! We have pens set up to seperate our purebreds, but we just dont have the heart to put them in pens yet!

I havent had babies since may! It seems like forever!

I found an egg in Mrs. Fluffy Puffy's hutch this morning, it was either layed yesterday afternoon or early this morning. It was already cold but could I still stick it under a broody hen? Do you think it's still alive?

Thanks -

Isn't it wonderful that we can learn from every hatch -- AND -- that eggs can be VERY forgiving. Hang in there.
Remember:

We live, we learn, we pine. Then happily hatch ANOTHER time!

Well, I decided that since I incubated a little warmer than I like that I had better put the little guys in Lockdown on Saturday ..

Sunday morning I had a pip.

2 hatched on Sunday
2 on Monday morning
1 Monday evening ..

The 6th egg was clear .. so we were done!

So meet Shiner Bock's kids:

Amber Bock (Amber)
Ziegenbock (Ziggy)
Shiner Blonde (Blonde)
Shiner Smokehaus (Smokey)
and Shiner Hefeweizen ! (Hef)

congrats. I'm jealous that you have named them already! We have three cats with names that are all variations of "Cat", and I can barely name my kids. xD

On that note of utter success, I ordered more quail eggs last night. I should be adding them to my Serama eggs sometime on Friday hehe.

texasgal: Those babies are adorable!

FluffyPuffy: I have taken all but one water cup out of the incubator. There was a lot of water underneath it, on the plastic table and I have gotten that cleaned up. The humidity in there is still reading 77%. Could the eggs have absorbed so much humidity that it won't go down now? I can take the last water cup out but then it is "dry". I am not sure what to do.

They are all open, and all the water cups are out. Theoretically it is "dry" and still registering 74%. On the upside, if the eggs were hatching outside the humidity this year rarely even gets that low. LOL
