I'm glad to be in on this September hatch-a-long

Congrats to everyone who has fuzz butts already

and sending good hatch vibs to those who have yet to hatch

I received 2 dozen free hatching eggs from the breeder I bought my two Marans roos from. I'll be day 7 candling on Wednesday. I'm so grateful for the rare breeds he gave me. I received 5 Chanteclers, 8 Australorps, and 11 Barnevelders. This is my third hatch and I really wasn't looking to do rare breeds on this one. My first hatch I didn't have enough humidity at lockdown. I got 12 out of 35. My last one I got 9 out of 31 and had to much humidity at lockdown. I wanted to just try some of my mutt eggs so I could try out the dry-incubation method but I guess I'll try with these guys ( It was that or they were getting pitched so they have a better chance with me any way.)

I got a pip from my last egg it is brown(dad) and white leghorn(mom) cross!!!!!

this will make baby # 18!!!!!!

Chick #18 - OMG

OMG - This little chick is the cutest thing I've ever seen in my whole life!

He is HUGE!!!!!!!

You should have seen the tiny little bantam egg he was smooshed into!

He is so fat and fluffy, he is a dark dark blue/black color and has the biggest muff and beard you ever saw!

Once he totaly fluffys out I think he might, just might have a top-hat!!!

He is alseep in my lap at the moment ...

He is already attached to me, if I leave him in the brooder by himself he starts screaming until he sees me then he comes running over and trys to get into my hand!!!

Yes I know 18 babies I HAVE GONE NUTS!! I am addicted MY neighbor Margret says I need an intervention

BUT I LOVE IT
yes 18 babies from 3 weeks 2 2 days old and I have 10 hens and 1 roo outside ! LOL EEEKKK!! my hubbie rolls his eyes everytime I talk about them BUT I catch him holding and snuggling the babies and he talks to our older flock outside LOL HE'S a big SOFTIE!!!!

He is almost dry, around his eyes the feathers haven't fluffed out yet so he kinda looks like a Zombie!

Congratulations Mrs. fluffy Puffy!!! And congratulations to all the other hatches this last week!!!

My 12 Silkie eggs after 10 days have dwindled down to 4 eggs left, between 2 blood rings and 6 detached air cells. Out of the last 4 I might get 2-3 hatchers. PO was really hard on this shpmt. Hope I have better luck with the 8 Marans eggs I put in last Thursday... They just came from a couple counties away. Aw, the joys of mail ordered eggs!!

I'm telling you he was in a tiny bantam egg and he is the size of a JG chick! He was squeezed/smooshed in there!!!
