***SEPTEMBER HATCH-A-LONG come join in***

Quote:
I usually take my fluffy-butts out of the 'bator on day 22 [or 36 hours after the first one hatches, whichever comes first] and leave all unhatched eggs in until day 25. I HAVE had chicks hatch as late as day 24. They are more likely to be 'shrink-wrapped' and if they aren't out of the egg 8 hours after pipping, I CAREFULLY help them out. Survival of the late hatchers is a little less - they are more likely to have curled feet [& need 'chick-shoes'] &/or spraddle legs.

I always do 'eggtopsies' on unhatched eggs. A couple of times I have had a 'peeper' and peeled out a live chick

-- these are my 13 bantam Ameraucana eggs -- 4 lavenders, a blue or black & a yellow one with a dark spot I think must be a splash. A 7th one zipped & popped out just past noon - it looks blue. Of the 6 remaining eggs, 3 are pipped.

this is the part that just makes me a wreck.i keep looking in the window hoping to see something. with my luck they are all going to hatch late. these are serama eggs and today is hatch day (day19) i know they can take the regular 21 days but if i have to wait that long i believe i will end up with an ulcer.

So the hatch date isn't officially until tomorrow, but we heard peeping last night and had a pip. Here's what the kids and I woke up to today. I'm surprised they actually went to school!

And here is one of all 5 chicks. They're hard to see but I promise there are 5 of them. And the two remaining eggs:

I guess we'll just keep waiting on the other two and see what happens...
