September Hatch-a-long!

Pics
Hopefully the one lone chick will make the day!
I hope so!
last night something dug a hole in my coop and ate all the eggs from under my broody :th
Oh I'm sorry :(

so I recandled last night and even worse than I feared - only one egg in the incubator is alive - most weren't even fertile. To be fair all but one were the box of 6 that he gave me to eat but I couldnt' resist giving them a go - I think they were just a bit old. Really hoping the ones under the mamas are OK, we'll find out Monday!

Well it looks like my hatching with a broody is done unless she goes broody again last night something dug a hole in my coop and ate all the eggs from under my broody :th

Can you fix it so that nothing can dig back in there again? Usually if there is one pest around, there are more and those will come in there too.

Just went out to clean Betty's box out because chicks had made a mess and was going to take extra eggs. So I reached in to pick Betty up and another egg was hatching. Black baby was almost out and other 4 are chirping. She now has 11with possibly 4 more coming soon. She must have had other hens sneaking in her box and laying. This hatch has been going on since last Friday. Ben and Butch are going to have to give her a helping wing to keep all these babies safe. Lol

I'm picking up two dozen eggs this Saturday! The lady I'm getting them from has Ameraucana's, Maran's, Olive Eggers, Naked Necks, and some other laying breeds. I lost most of my standard sized flock about a month ago, so this is me getting back up on my chicken horse. At least I still have a flock of 20 or so of bantams left. My 'Bater just got up and running a few minutes ago and is currently holding steady! Hopefully it stays this way :fl And chicken math strikes again! Along with the two dozen eggs I'm also picking up two cochin bantam chick's and a chocolate muscovy duckling, all a few days old. She offered some muscovy eggs too! I didn't take her up on the offer, but maybe some day I'll get some from her.
I hope everyone has a whole bunch of fluffy butts soon! :jumpy
So sorry you lost your flock. I haven't lost any yet. Thank God. But I know it is coming. I guess all we can do is learn from everything God sends our way good or bad. So excited for your new additions
I want more ducks pro ably going to wait till Spring. If I can control my wants that long.
