September Hatch-a-long!

18 eggs in the incubator just now out of my flock , temp stable 99-100 humidity is at 30% on incuturner for the hoverbator, external is 70 degrees with 30% humidity, plugs are out due to 4800 elevation. now to wait 21 days

Good morning everyone. I hope you don't mind I migrate over from the August hatch-a-long. my chicks are 2 days late and now it's September LOL. I'm a first-time hatcher so I've all the questions.
One seems to be zipping in a sideways direction and instead of taking small chips away is making huge gaps. The one he's working on now must be the size of his whole head, Beak, and everything poke out but the top bit of membrane is keeping the shell from falling away. Seems active though, and peeps every now and again.
A second pipped at 12:40 a.m last night. I witnessed a shard of shell fly off. startled me as I was watching the other LOL. The membrane is still there, with two tiny pin holes. Very white. Does that mean it's dried out? there has been no activity from the chick since the first pip. at the moment it's almost 8 hours later. Is this normal?
The other five eggs are still eggs.

Personally I wouldn't mist the eggs because that can actually pull the moisture out of the shell due to osmosis.

I understand misting can be useful for duck eggs? What are you hatching?

I just picked up the eggs! she brought 30 in case of any accidents, only one broke so I paid for two dozen and got five extra! The eggs are so pretty

I can't wait to get home and set these
I also picked up four cute babies! Two cochin chick's, one might be fizzled! And two muscovy ducklings. One chocolate pied and one lilac pied.

Bought 10 eggs, was given 6 extra. She was certain fertility would be down, but I have 13 very active eggs at day 8! 3 bcm, 3 OE and 7 Legbar!

I plan to set a few from my flock this eve.... some turken , some out of my Big white roo and a Delaware hen, some out of my rir roo that might be sexlink. Oh so many possibilities!
Oh and still have 2 turkey eggs due the 7th.....

Hi, I seen you over in that other thread. If the chick is hatching and that white part that you are seeing looks kind of papery, then yes it's getting dry. When that happens to me, I dip my finger in a bowl of luke-warm water and coat the white spot. Be careful not to get the water in those 2 holes that you are seeing so that you do not drown them.

I had to open the incubator because this guy pipped near the bottom!
It was still alive so i layed him down on it's side. Is this a malposition? Will it make it? Am i being overly worried?

Just keep an eye on that one, and if you think that it need's help getting out of there, then assist very carefully.

Edit: By the way, aren't you in AZ. too?
